Every I walk away from someone who hurt me . I am left with a feeling part hollow and also powerful. What hasn't lost it's sour taste however is when the choice of walking away isn't mine...The colleague that throws me under the bus to the relative that spills my most devastating secret all requires the will to walk away and replace your hurt with the sage knowledge that this too will pass.However what gets me is the total forgiveness and renewal of relationship expected from me post apocalypse ....Why should I let this go? Tale of two strays.....

In one week two major stories have broken about the shenanigans of powerful men ....sperminator diddling his maid and supporting both child and mother under wife's nose ..damn player and the IMF guy and the Guinean chamber maid ala French royal court... while Americans heave their collective bosoms and the Europeans tut tut ...it barely registers on the African psyche.

So what did these ...you call them powerful ..I say typical men find attractive enough to stray, don't worry it was not their looks average is the understatement of the century ...could it have been availability .... Tarzan see it want it grab...

or is it the intriguing 80-20 rule ...in every relationship there is something missing in it ... and as the cycle of life love and pain goes it moves sometime to stratospheric highs of 95- 5 and some despairing lows of 10-90 ...my take if it gets lower than that you need to shoot yourself for being in a stinker of a relationship.

Being in a relationship that has lost its spark or leaves a yearning does it make it right to stray ...briefly ..seeking emotional redress from the tedious nature of a long term relationship in another...is that forgivable? ...does it show that you are unable plot debt relief for third world countries or make a new blockbuster,.... or that wow you are human,.... and as along as you don't find fulfillment were you are ..a hard honest look at your life is warranted before you become a honorary guest at Ricker Island ...Americans too much...

A friend met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart ...they would eventually marry and divorce as they struggled to deal with expectations, youth, life itself ....
Both moved on and met and loved others , she has two beautiful kids and a husband no more , He fell in love but has since moved on ......

Today these high school sweethearts have reconnected and are just mellow enjoying the essence of each other and understanding that life goes on despite the differences but what truly matters is the moment.....MG

When I first wrote the draft for this post it sounded very heavy handed sort of the rantings of a mad black man sorry Tyler, hopefully this is a better me and a better post

So why do we as people feel the need to characterize everything new with what they have previously dealt with. If its a new car once we own one we know the brand, if its a work position once we have done it then there is nothing new or rewarding aboutit and use this very obnoxious lens in viewing life and spoiling peoples enjoyment of it.

The crux of the matter is simple if you have a man at home that you regularly love, mistreat,fawn over, debase and disregard in equal measure. IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE ME AT HOME.

I am tired of meeting people who because they have someone my age, my height, my work grade feel you can disrespect me . I am not your son or brother or ex lover . I am me different, unique with all my flaws (now features) and a genuine smile . I demand courtesy always, I work hard so I can stand tall so even you can stand tall lets walk this earth binding our thoughts and words with respect.......MG

As the weekend approaches ... I might deny it ... I might run away from it but I will probably be at Chef Uche table.

I can see your sneers and derison as you wonder why a grown man has no self control. Let me educate your judgemental behind .

This man marinate and simmers chicken in beer , rice is caramelised in coconut rum, goat is cooked in coca cola ( I kid you not) and shrimp is tossed in hot chilli . Then he layers these morsels with a trio of plaintain , sweet potatoe and irish potatoe layer... and tops it with smoked cheddar .

Nope not done yet all baked and moist .....thats just one course at this table usually packed with incredible conversation and individuals. This man has a sick imagination for food ....

When people talk about his food its parted lips , sighs and glistening eyes ...... I just heard about his sex with chocolate and it rumored to be the best thing since Jenna Jameson......

So sorry to disappoint you again .......I will be at the same venue

Catching up with Jeff and Jumoke ( www.jumokeshotme.blogspot.com) after a long hiatus, conversation as often turned to looking at the peculiar society we live in. This time our discussion centered around being true to yourself and the possiblity that exist when the mind is opened to trying something new.

Both ladies talked about the fear of men to be vulnerable in turn forcing their partners to have alter egos.

How many men are willing to talk about their fantasies and how many would allow them experience those passions without self destructive feelings of guilt.

Being true to yourself requires brutal honesty, communicating that requires vulnerability to ridicule, judgement and the emotional maturity that comes with understanding that people are inherently different .

The possibility of digging too deep into the basis of my fantasy might ruin a good thing and possibly leave everyone an emotional wreck ......

So do we put on our game faces and avoid Jerry Springer style breakdowns or embrace total honesty and the risk it entails .....of multiple incandescent joy...

Sadly we find that though signs of aging can be obliterated however life experiences cannot be easily injected into the cerebral cortex to enable you understand how we really feel and how life can be uncomplicated.

Slowly but surely I realised that though the gym is still the bastion of the alpha male or preening peacock who struts and glances slyly at the mirror to check his new biceps or flattening bellies but it was home to some of the most appaling social behaviour seen since high school.
Am trying not to over analyse this but lay out the simple code of conduct ….etente cordial so to speak

Don'ts

- Walk through a crowded locker room without saying hello ...this shows your breeding
- Engage in conversation with a total stranger while he is naked totally pervy
- Wander around the locker room en flagrante ..... this is not the remake caligula
- Dont flex ur pecs in the bathroom , powder ur ass or any thing suitably arousing to those interested

Do
- Pick up your wet towel and put in the dry cleaning bin
- Do tip the locker room attendant or one day that rolex may walk away
- Do keep conversation of deals, conquest and general loutish ways to a minimum
- Do not pick on people with more physical imperfectios than you .....yours may all be in your head

This is exhausting......................... gotta go find faith …. I can hear her yelling

After watching a furiously contested amateur pole dancing contest .... With the enthusiastic screaming of not just underwear loving cavemen in the background it was surreal to see Dita Von Tees job ... 'Burlesque' has truly gone global ... Burlesque and good ole rocking the pole in clear heels is now mainstream and has been added to the set of essential skills of a suitable partner .. As todays relationships evolve a new set of skills are on the wishlist.

As ladies are rapidly replacing diaper changing and knitting on that list men are demanding 360 twirls and three finger mouth action..
Looking at this ladies mount and gyrate the steel tube you could not help but notice that they viewed this steel tube as quite literaly a penis ... And were going to make magic happen even if it hurt them.

But like most things usually negotiated these new skills require a man come to the table with a six pack, six figure salary and don juan capabilities and the sensitivity of Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony combined .... NYC FW provided all the glitz and glamour expected. As always show casing spring/summer fashion always lend themselves to typical lights colored clothing re interpretations of the Hamptons, americana and being NYC black is always in. I do think men collection do not have the same punch and focus as Pitti Uomo or Men fashion week in Paris as the are overshadowed by the women collection
For MG best collection was Hilfiger’s anniversary collection, fresh punchy colors it never strayed from his strengths. It was like a visit to a good friend.

Great shorts and sandal at General Ideas and Michael Kors

Marc by Marc Jacobs presented the strongest acessories of the season , bags in the softest caramel, olive leather worn as waist satchel or hand carried enhanced a strong collection, also noted were the rtrainers that added the perfect touch to his loooks

Band of Outsiders presented a collection full of patchwork suit in faded colours and cardigans and t-shirts in nice strong colours all tied together with deck shoes

Spuurs collection of suiting in plaids , greys and options from day to night fits very well in to an urban gents wardrobe

A friend of my father would twice a year hand sponge and press his suits. I thought he was a cheap skate but have grown to realize the truth.. so I will share….

Never dry clean your suits more than twice a year. to avoid breakdown of fabric due to harsh chemicals of commercial drycleaners

Sponge and steam press suits to preserve fabrics and refresh suits

Steam suits to remove wrinkles

After use brush off dirt with soft bristled brush

Wear suits every other day or two days if heavy ….giving it time to breathe and remove wrinkles
Store suits with plenty of space between and breathable cloth bags

This should preserve these usually expensive garments.....MG

Two perfectly reasonable people are no longer on speaking terms because the other ’stole' his pals off facebook sounds like the sub plot of a Miley Cyrus summer sob fest. No … its shocking but grown ass men and women are increasingly falling out over the misuse and not so obvious boundaries associated with cyber space relationships.
The very cool guy in the hall loses his A game status when you find out he is a fan of spelunking over the weekend and nerd over there ups the ante with pictures of him in Barbados aboard grand papas yacht . That social networks have opened up vistas of information out there is nothing new, but increasingly people are reconsidering and slowly developing the social manners of this new frontier.

Because we are pals in the office..... can you comment on my wall…..No …maybe?
Are you allowed to have conversation with my friends ? No way …..Go get yours

Friendships are infinitely personal and developed with a million unspoken guidelines, a third party intrusion into that delicate balance usually upsets it.
Examples of this abound in new marriages or cohabiting couples where the term ‘our friends’ is a conflagration point for arguments and usually leaves all parties unsatisfied with the new rules.

So do we as society set new rules … will this be based on length, role and purpose of the relationship.

I just realised that James Cameron ‘’Avatar ‘ was not really fiction after all. Sitting in church and lifting holy hands in praise of my maker. It struck me that the young lady next to me had the most usual eyebrows.
This were sharply drawn curves that had a very unnatural arch to them. Wondering to myself if she was indeed related to reptiles or she had refused to evolve from her cousins 175 million years ago , too bad she did not live in downtown LA as she may have been discovered to star in last summers blockbuster.

Ladies please the whole point of eye enhancement is to embellish and improve upon what nature bestowed upon us. Usually these architecturally drawn brows are painted with the ferocity of Picasso in his blue period. It is shocking that anyone has the singular bad taste to ladle three primary colours on one eyelid.

I cannot in all honesty blame these women thanks to Tyra’s (seriously you want a surname) global domination everybody fancies themselves a supermodel and even if they will never fit or afford a size 2 dress their eyelids get the haute couture treatment for an edgy fashion shoot with Mars as the theme.

Men also get taken to the cleaners over this as being silent conspirators as well as being guilty of growing the mono-brow (Planets of the Apes anybody ) I get it you were born with it but get your barber to get rid of it and join the rest of us walking on two legs instead of four .

You know who you are… you show up and pretend not to order then take great helping from the bottle and just before the bill is presented you air kiss your way out of the building . Yet you wonder why no one calls you or invite you to their faboulous parties after six months.
These are the social butterflies who boast about how they are taken to parties, dinners all for being simply too faboulous for words … No pal you are a skank. While no shame exist on your planet. Playing others for a fool simply shows how low we have gone collectively in seeking good company.

Here are a few rules

• Pick up a check and say thank you are not Jesse Jackson daughter.

So who has style …who is elegant.. The man that can pair red pants with a monogrammed school blazer or the rugged jean and leather clad individual? I think both style and elegance are down to confidence. An inner assurance of your ‘person’ gives off a vibe that is endearing to many and incredibly attractive.
Individuals considered stylish and elegant usually have their fashion faux pas but carry it off as an affectation. Usually they are too cool to care what you think.
This however does not mean that a lack of knowledge about what fits your physique or self awareness about the appropriate attire. I find individuals that flaunt conventions roughly divided into eclectic or inordinately rude say wearing a red jacket to a black and white ball… no it’s not funny and standing out for the wrong reasons does not win points on the style and elegance stakes.
So finding ones style requires experimentation and an appreciation for finer details of the wardrobe. Dressing fastidiously even when rocking a ripped pair of jeans is about time and place and that bold confidence that showcases your ‘mojo’

Wanting some time away from the pressures of a relationship I think is akin to taking a few days off a challenging job to refocus your mental energy ... assess your growth and look at what has been achieved emotionally and physically
Truth be told the break could be a second to a soul searching trip . depends on how we feel
So why is the red button of the nuclear stockpile depressed when those words are uttered .
Is it because the are uttered infrequently ...so their impact is felt more
Should breaks be a regular part of the relationship or does wanting a moment constituite doubt and is that totally unnecessary even when a mortgage and offspring are involved

Its amazing how the rolled up hem popularised in the 50s and 70s by Marlon Brando and Travolta ala Grease still looks fresh when paired with a classic white t-shirt and sneakers

So the Paris shows were an ecletic mix edgy and some well thought wearable collections.
Very impressed with the commercial nature of the collections which in these recovery times quality and wearability are the key buzzwords
My favorite looks were relaxed silhouttes , double breasted suits , sandals(mandals), bold jewelry seen at Lanvin .
Acessories at Hermes were non gimmicky and provide value as always.

Milan fashion week spring summer 2011 is over and all the fashionistas move off to Paris to see more avant garde collections, here is our break down for your fashion essentials for next years summer…
Scratch that for us here make that Christmas 2010.

- Pants are still being rolled up
- Pants are still cut tight and fitted, few designers showed loose silhouettes
- Preppy is still in (bold brights , cardigans , espadrilles, neckties and loafers)
- Swim wear short shorts and brief appearance of the monokini ...Armani what were you thinking
- Prints shown at Etro and Cavalli are luxurious and richly hued and can be interpreted as pants , jacket, and mismatched
- Jackets – the single breasted is in as well as the fitted double breasted, all cut shorter from dark to rich jewel tones.
- Shoes – best bets are dual toned shoes loafers, wingtips in light colours – brown beige and white
- Studded biker jackets are as well fitted jackets worn over denim and leather pants

- The bags are large carryalls in sumptuous leather.

So far not a total overhaul of our current summer wardrobe.

You cannot ignore a story that crops up with alarming regularity, It seems to me that a lot of married men have been forced into starting families earlier then they would like and have no input on how many bundles of joy they will have to work for.

Most men seem to want to wait for an average of two years before starting their families but for some reason women ignore this or simply do not consider the financial impact of children on the primary breadwinner. Now women may scoff and say that they earn equally or more than their men , but the truth is 'mi mortgage your casa' is still the rule of thumb . Men are denigrated when their spouse incomes are appropriated in to living expenses with any regularity.
So truly ladies your income just makes your life easier unlike the mans income that is drawn quartered and spent with the emotional attachement of a hedgehog. (.....yup nice turn of phrase)

So why do you do it?

- Is it to show your friends that you can procreate
- That you run this shit
- A lack of understanding that kids are 20 yr mortgages on time and happiness

This is even worse when the size of the family is totally decided before meeting the man and the ridicoulus excuse of 'it just happened' makes a fool of your education and common sense

Celeb Chef Uche opens his heart and kitchen to twenty total strangers to come dine and talk shop at his formerly hidden now rapdily famous cafe.

There was wine aplenty imbibed while waiting for stragglers to finish watching England ragtag band of half fit football stars slug out a boring draw.

Early birds imbibed wine and atmosphere talking shop from life love and the regular BS when a week has been too long

The family dinner at BC is an opportunity to hang out with pals and new faces talk absolute smack find love lust all with great food.

Dinner served at 10.30pm was an amalgam of flavors as Uche ethos is pushing food to the edge hopefully not off the table was on full display. Starting with a delectable light fresh soup that was flavorful and whole some as the fresh dinner rolls. Rapidly followed by platters of chicken, shrimp beef . Copious amounts of alcohol smoothed rough edges and total strangers totally embraced the spirit of the table equality equammity and total shitfacedness........ Bravo Augustina and Dan Uche

I think I have discovered the new summer buzzword that will confound women and thrill the fashion forward among us.
As understood now it refers to statement footwear too fabulous for words in the form of the humble sandals. Think Derek Blasberg Givenchy gold toned gladiators he debuted at Madrina Dashkova MOMA exhibition in New York.
These are not sandals for the wall flower type... Think metallics ,exotic skins, embellishments, height (never say heels for mans shoes, all tossed into the creative mix...
To be fair not so original after seasons of statement glamour rich shoes on the womens catwalk.
